What is Pterygium?

Pterygium is a condition where conjunctival tissue abnormally proliferates and grows onto the cornea. UV exposure is the primary cause, and progression can cause vision loss and astigmatism. Early stages are monitored, while surgical removal is needed when it progresses toward the central cornea.
